Concerned about the cost of your healthcare?
Did you know that about 13% of Americans spend 10% or more of their income on out-of-pocket healthcare costs? Given the scope and magnitude of today’s changes in healthcare, everyone must become involved with their healthcare at a greater level than ever before. Patients are facing a range of new and more complicated health insurance options, many of these categorized under the high-deductible health plan label. With the changes in all health plan types, out-of-pocket costs (deductible, coinsurance, copayments) for healthcare are now a greater concern. They are also a critical factor in the decision making process for non-emergent care.
Iowa Ortho believes patients shouldn’t have to compromise high quality care because of these changes as we very much understand that cost is becoming an important variable. We are committed to our patients and focused on managing costs so you can focus on your health.
Affordable. High quality care.
When you or a loved one needs orthopaedic care, you want the best care possible. Unfortunately, in many cases, paying more doesn’t mean you actually receive better care. Likewise, paying less doesn’t necessarily mean quality suffers.
Iowa Ortho physicians and surgeons are recognized leaders in their specialties. From diagnosis through rehabilitation, outstanding care is easy to access – and more affordable than most care from a hospital or large health systems.
How does Iowa Ortho focus on Affordability?
With a singular focus in orthopaedics, we can provide greater treatment efficiencies and a team-based approach to orthopaedic care. With this focus, Iowa Ortho is able to offer the majority of its services on an outpatient basis. This means our charges and reimbursement are lower than hospitals or large health systems, which translate into SAVINGS for our patients as insurance plans typically calculate deductible and coinsurance based on charges.
Not all orthopaedic care is outpatient, and we encourage patients to ask their provider so they can make an informed and cost-effective decision about their care.
What are the cost benefits of our MRI services?
Iowa Ortho patients have access to an outpatient MRI at the Open MRI center. This center is conveniently located within Iowa Ortho’s main office. With an outpatient designation, Iowa Ortho’s MRI imaging is typically $500-1000 less expensive than hospital-based MRI services with no compromise in quality of care. The open MRI center is accredited by the American College of Radiology, and all MRI studies receive full diagnostic review by a board certified radiologist. In addition, the Open MRI is a great option for those who feel claustrophobic or cannot fit comfortably in a closed MRI machine. This means patients can see and communicate with the operator during the testing process. Our open MRI machine is one of very few in Des Moines and the state of Iowa.
