Darin J. Larson, M.D.

Dr. Darin Larson is Iowa Ortho’s newest Hip and Knee surgeon as of September 2021.
Dr. Larson is originally from Vincent, Iowa and grew up working for his father’s construction business. He graduated with highest distinction from the University of Iowa with a degree in Integrative Physiology. He then received his doctorate from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He then completed his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction (Hip and Knee Replacement) from West Virginia University.
Dr. Larson chose orthopedic surgery, specifically hip and knee replacement, as he enjoys working with his hands and wanted to use the skills he gained while working construction to improve the quality of life for his patients. His favorite part of orthopedics is seeing his patients smile after a successful knee or hip replacement.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, cooking, and supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Patients can be seen by Dr. Larson at Iowa Ortho locations in Des Moines, Clive, Jordan Creek, Johnston, and Newton.
