Timothy R.  Vinyard, M.D.

Dr. Vinyard was born and raised in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He graduated from Coe College where he competed in both football and baseball.  He received his medical degree and Orthopedic Surgery Residency training at the University of Iowa.  He received sub-specialty training (fellowship) in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine at the TRIA Orthopedic Center in the Twin Cities.

In addition to his personal athletics background, Dr. Vinyard has extensive experience in the clinical and surgical management of athletes of all levels, including providing medical coverage for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Twins and many others. Dr. Vinyard is the Head Team Physician for the Iowa Wild and the West Des Moines Valley Tigers.  He also provides assistant medical coverage for the Iowa Cubs, the Drake University Bulldogs and many other Iowa schools and events. Dr. Vinyard’s practice focus includes all aspects of Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and arthroscopic surgery including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, meniscal injuries, cartilage regeneration, multi-ligamentous knee injuries, rotator cuff tears, labral injuries/shoulder instability, ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction/Tommy John surgery, Achilles tendon injuries, hamstring injuries and many more.  He has written book chapters and journal articles as well as presented at national and regional meetings on these topics.

Dr. Vinyard and his wife, Erica, currently have their hands full raising three very active boys.  In his free time, Dr. Vinyard enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, exercising, playing tennis and attending sporting events.
