About Dr. Nwosa
Dr. Chinedu Nwosa is a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a Nassau, Bahamas, native and has been practicing since 2009. Dr. Nwosa is the president of Iowa Ortho.
Dr. Nwosa pursued a career in orthopedic trauma because it allows him to be involved in providing a full spectrum of care to injured patients. It brings Dr. Nwosa great joy to see his patients make positive strides throughout recovery. He credits his trauma team in providing top-notch care and consideration to each person that walks through the doors of his practice. In addition to his practice, Dr. Nwosa has conducted multiple research studies and has been featured in several medical publications.
In his free time, Dr. Nwosa enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He also enjoys cooking, sports and reggae music.

My son was in a car accident in September shattered his right femur and his left knee tibia area. Dr. Nwosa and his team went above and beyond to explain in our terms what was going to happen. They showed compassion in every aspect from surgery to waiting to healing. Would never want to go thru an experience like we did again but Nwosa and his team are incomparable and I would recommended to anyone needing his practice.

Dr. Nwosa is the kindest and most talented doctor I have worked with. In 2018, he fixed my left femur that was broken in two places. I was having pain just recently in my knee, and the x-rays showed his work was still doing its job and was not the source of the problem to which he referred me to another great doctor.

My experience with Dr. Nwosa and his team, including Robert Ripchinski, his PA, has been fantastic. I had to have an ORIF surgery on my humerus due to a fall, and they have given me kind and compassionate care throughout the surgery and subsequent follow-ups. When my surgery was rescheduled due to illness, he took the time to call me and explain the process in detail, and for that I cannot thank him enough. No one wants to have to go through major orthopedic surgeries, but I felt supported throughout with Dr. Nwosa and his team. Thank you so much for putting me (literally!) back together!

Dr. Nwosa was best in class at providing a solid and clear path forward when no one else either would or could, given the extent of my injuries. Previous orthopedic surgeons and specialists fell short at providing specific answers and/or a path forward. Very thorough and skilled. Took time at each visit to explain surgery and recovery process. After a bad fall I broke my leg just below my knee and was unable to walk (on my good leg) without pain. I’m still healing, about 4 weeks post op, but Dr. Nwosa has made every step easy. He or his team visited me in the hospital every day after surgery. Now after 4 weeks I’m virtually off pain meds and bending my knee fairly well. Would absolutely recommend his practice, his team is amazing and I’m loving my results so far!

Dr Nwosa operated on my 89 yr old father, who suffers from dementia, after a fall that fractured his hip. I was very pleased with the way he handled my dad..very confident and competent. The actual surgery was quick..which meant alot to our family that my dad was not under anesthesia for a long period of time. My dad is recovering quickly.

Incredible experience! After suffering a level 6 tibial Plateau fracture, I was told by my first doctor that you just can’t put Humpty Dumpty back together! So I decided to get a second opinion! Dr Nwosa was recommended to me by a family member who happens to be a registered nurse! After meeting Dr Nwosa he told me that even though it doesn’t get much worse, he felt confident he could get me back to where I was before!!! After discussing this with my wife I decided it was my best option! So under the knife I went! 2 surgery’s later, 2 plates, 12 screws and 6 months of recovery I was able to return to work in elevator construction!!! It’s been 8 months since the injury and I can perform almost all of the tasks I need to!!! Without Dr Nwosa’s experiences, and the help of his staff, I’m not sure I would be walking today let alone be able to do my job!!! I can’t thank them enough! I am forever great full!!! Top notch orthopedic surgeon!!!

New Years Eve 2013 day I slipped on ice and broke the fibula and tibia. I was told Dr. Nwosa would be doing the surgery which didn’t mean anything to me but the staff raved about him like he was some kind of rock star. Turns out they were right. I am a very inquisitive person and my questions and concerns were always answered and explained. My breaks were not exotic but did require a rod and screws. Everything works. 70 years old now with no after affects to speak of.

My significant other was a stage IV prostate cancer patient. With weakened bones from the cancer and treatments, he fell and fractured his hip. Dr. Nwosa performed a partial hip replacement on that hip. The entire experience, especially given my S.O.’s condition, was wonderful. . . Dr. Nwosa was caring and very present before, during and after the surgery. He personally checked back on the healing progress while in the hospital. Highly recommended.

This doctor is a gentle, caring, EXCELLENT Physician. I was in an accident in November of 2015,suffering a crushed pelvis. Between him and God, I was put back together and am healthy and can do almost anything I did before. I expect with a little more healing and strengthening I will be able to do anything.
