About
Janet

Janet grew up as the youngest of nine children, spending the school year in North Dakota and summers at a lake cabin in Minnesota where days were filled with family, fun, and water activities. Her path to occupational therapy was deeply influenced by her close relationship with her paternal grandmother, who lived with paraplegia due to polio. Her grandmother’s intelligence, resilience, and independence served as powerful examples, inspiring both Janet and her sister to pursue careers in therapy—Janet in occupational therapy and her sister in physical therapy.

Janet’s fascination with biomechanics naturally led her to specialize in hand therapy. Her appreciation for the mind body spirit connection and the body’s incredible ability to heal guided her pursuit of advanced certifications in areas that address the influence of edema on scars, pain, and overall recovery. She believes that each specialty she’s pursued complements the others, allowing her to provide comprehensive care for patients recovering from injury or illness.

Janet’s therapeutic philosophy is grounded in the belief that every individual has God given gifts. Sometimes, injury or illness can obstruct those gifts, but with the right support, including physical recovery, emotional healing, adaptive strategies, and sometimes a shift in perspective, people can rediscover their purpose and strength. She sees her role as more than a therapist; she is a guide, walking with her patients through the grief of loss and into the hope of recovery, reminding them they are much more than their injury.

Outside of work, Janet finds peace and perspective through daily devotions. She cherishes time with her husband, Ken, their adult children, Kyle and Hanna, and their grandson, Silas. She loves being on the water, especially boating and occasional fishing, and also enjoys jigsaw puzzles, wood burning, and spending time with her extended family.
