About Dr. Aderibigbe
Dr. Kamaldeen Aderibigbe is a board-certified orthopaedic trauma surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is originally from Nigeria and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Aderibigbe is a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Aderibigbe entered the field of orthopedics, specifically trauma, because it allows him to practice medicine and restore patients’ function and form through fracture care and joint replacement surgery. He has received extensive training in pelvic and acetabular fracture care, acute care of polytrauma patients and periarticular fractures.
Dr. Aderibigbe is one of very few surgeons in the state that specializes in the direct anterior hip replacement—a procedure which offers patients a smaller incision, less pain following surgery and a shorter recovery time. Due to the extremely technical nature of this surgery, Dr. Aderibigbe had to undergo a substantial amount of procedure-specific training. Dr. Aderibigbe is a big advocate for evidence-based medicine and incorporates it in his clinical practice and decision-making process.
Dr. Aderibigbe enjoys spending his spare time with his family. He also enjoys playing soccer, golfing, traveling and rock climbing.

I am a 59 ur old male. Dr. Aderibigbe (Big A) takes the time to listen to EVERYTHING I have to say. Takes the time to explain what is right about what I say and what is flawed in my thinking.At 12:30 pm on October 8 Dr. Aderibigbe performed anterior hip replacement surgery. By 6 pm that evening of Oct 8, I was able to walk completely on my own!!! Nurses, PT and other had never seen that before… walking and standing completely unassisted… 5 hours after surgey.

Absolutely amazing care. I saw the x-ray of Brad’s shoulder…it was horrific. But Dr. Aderibigbe handled it. What courage. Over the next week they continued to check on Brad. He is home now and can wiggle all of his fingers like he always could. Brad had arthritis in that shoulder prior to the injury and a week out of surgury his shoulder pain is dramatically less than before the injury. What a blessing! Thank you!

Dr. Aderibigbe is an excellent surgeon. The anesthesiologist told me he is very particular in the operating room which is definitely what you want in a surgeon. Several nurses told me he is the best. One said he is who she’d want if having a hip replacement .My experience was equally positive. He approaches hip replacement from an anterior (frontal) position which takes a little longer in surgery but has a shorter recovery for the patient. He is really top notch. 5 ??!

I was on vacation in Iowa and the night before we left I tripped over a broom but didn’t fall. There was such intense pain in my thigh. Nothing helped. 3 days later I went to the ED in Jefferson, IA and found out I had broken my hip AGAIN and the titanium rod from my previous hip surgery 5 months prior. I was sent to Mercy in Des Moines. Dr Aderibigbe was the surgeon who was on call. He got all my records from home and 3 days later we had a plan for getting the prior rod out, wedging my hip (cutting my hip bone and changing its layout) and fixing a second hip fracture. Surgery went well. 7 months non weight bearing on crutches. PT to keep strength and then to learn to walk with my osteotomy, my left leg was now right around an inch shorter than my right leg. I can walk again! I walk a couple miles every day. Thank you for saving my leg!!

Dr. Aderibigbe and his staff are very kind, efficient and professional. I recently had hip replacement surgery. I had been in pain for several years, it was at the point of being unbearable. I was familiar with Dr. Aderibigbe as he had performed surgery on my son after a severe automobile accident. I was very impressed with his expertise as a trauma surgeon. My doctor also recommended him for hip replacement. I am now 4 weeks post surgery and feel a positivity about life I haven’t felt in years. I have some post surgical pain but it is so minimal compared to the pain before my hip replacement, it is also improving daily. I was rushed to Mercy in DesMoines after a serious motor vehicle accident. The local hospital wasn’t equipped to deal with my injuries. I wasn’t aware of what was going on around me for 5 days. When I came to, Dr A was caring for my broken bones. I fractured 2 bones in my lower arm, two bones in my lower leg, a fractured sternum and rib. My daughter being an operating room nurse closer to her would have preferred me being at “her” hospital. When she talked to her orthopedic dr there about taking me as a patient, after looking into my injuries he said,”Absolutely not, too many of those leg injuries turn into amputations.” It’s been 6months and I just got the orders from Dr A I can start bearing weight and walking!!! I have to wear my big bulky boot for 4 more weeks but I can walk. When I expressed my ongoing concerns to various staff I worked with thru the months, they would say whose your doctor? When I told them Dr A, they’d say don’t worry. He can do miraculous things. I repeatedly got the similar message. He truly has a gift. How do you thank someone for giving you your life back? I am posting for husband Kevin Miller Sr. Kevin severely broke his leg on March 1st. When we got to the emergency room, the doctor told us there only a few doctors locally that could handle this kind of injury and Dr. Aderibigbe was one. He technically operated twice, once to put a brace on to hold Kevin’s leg in place until the swelling went down and then again to put all the rods and pins in to hold the bone together. Dr. Aderibigbe has kept Kevin on a rigid recovery schedule (which is exactly what he needed)! He is about a month ahead of schedule from the original time frame given (which also speaks to Kevin’s determination). As bad as its been, we know it could have been much worse without Dr. Aderibigbe (and God’s) help.

Dr Aderbigbe is an extremely talented surgeon. I was in a car accident in August of 2017 that shattered my right femur. Now, 2 1/2 years later the last of the breaks is finally healing! I have gone from a wheelchair to walker to cane and now can walk unassisted. Dr Aderbigbe has been persistent in follow up care and has been truthful and caring all the way. Next step is to remove all the hardware following complete recovery. He will be there for that as well. I highly recommend him.

I’m 62 years old and had my right hip replaced with new ball and socket on Thursday, 11-14-19 at 7:30am. Dr. Aderibigbe talked to me and the wife before surgery, he listened to my concerns and then he discussed the procedure enough to make me feel a lot more comfortable. I remember going into the surgery room and next thing I know, I’m in the recovery room. The surgery was quick, slightly less then 1-1/2 hours. I’m home now and recovering nicely. Thru a team effort the staff did a wonderful job reassembling the puzzle of bones that was my left forearm with 3 plates and multiple screws. Dr Ateribigbe provided a great calming experience in an otherwise scary and traumatic event.

Dr. Aderibigbe is a very professional, knowledgeable and caring doctor. He explains everything in detail very clearly so people not in the medical field can understand. He is a doctor that performs the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement. The only way to go for a quicker recovery. When I have my other hip done, he will be the doctor I call. I am extremely satisfied under his care and the staff at Mercy One. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Aderibigbe is the best! He is open and honest with patients, down to earth and speaks in understandable language , not medical terms. He is highly qualified and precise in his surgery skills; one of the few doing anterior hip replacements in his office. I highly recommend Dr. Aderibigbe and would not go to anyone else.

Dr. Aderibigbe spent a lot of time with us in helpings weigh options about my 83 yr. old Mom’s hip that was in need of a total joint replacement. She also suffers from Dementia which made her case a little more complicated. Dr. Aderibigbe and Dr. Sweetman worked together in a plan to adjust the Anesthesia and Post surgery pain management in order to eliminate any repercussions. She was back to her Memory Care residence immediately following discharge and walking with no problems. She is 3 weeks out and walking without any assistance. Simply amazing!!!!

Dr. Aderibigbe and his PA Guy Sullivan are the best in Hip Replacement Surgery. I met with them to get a second opinion and I’m so glad I did. My Surgery was scheduled and completed quickly I was walking with assistance the next day. Walking is a joy now! Lateral surgery is the best as no muscle or tendon is cut. Recovery is quick and if Dr. Aderibigbe does the surgery, it will be life changing. No more hip pain! Dr. Aderibigbe has a wonderful relaxed manner, and is approachable with any question or concern you might have. I will be scheduling my second hip replacement with him soon. I highly recommend Dr. Aderibigbe as a surgeon and Iowa Ortho as a professional establishment where the personnel are compassionate and caring in their health care.

On a cold Christmas Eve, Dr. Aderibigbe looked at the x-rays of my ankle and observed that I had done a perfect job of completely shattering it. He offered me choices concerning my recovery; the one I chose involved two surgeries, one each from the outside and inside of the ankle, and involving plates and screws. Today (and after about 100 hours of physical therapy) I am walking normally. I’ve climbed to prehistoric caves in Somaliland, walked on beaches, flown tens of thousands of miles, ridden my bike all over a beautiful island, and played vigorous ping pong. I am so grateful he was on duty that dreary Christmas Eve.
