About Julie
After watching a physical therapist teach her grandfather how to walk again after a stroke, and going through rehab herself for high school sports injuries, coupled with a deep desire to help others, Julie’s lifelong love of PT and helping patient’s meet their mobility goals to improve their quality of life and reach their personal goals was born. Julie has been a physical therapist for 26 years, and began working as a PT tech 7 years prior to that, so can’t really remember life before PT!
She has practiced primarily in the orthopedic rehabilitation setting in her career, but does have diverse experience in all areas of physical therapy, lending itself well to her overarching knowledge of the complete health care continuum. For the past 5+ years, she has worked with the Iowa Ortho surgeons specifically in the treatment of total joint replacement. She strives to use her professional knowledge and experience to accurately diagnosis and treat each patient with individualized care that is meaningful to their daily life.
Julie believes an emphasis on providing proactive education to each patient is essential for their understanding of, and participation in, their recovery, which will ultimately lead to a successful outcome after rehabilitation. Her greatest joy is making meaningful connections with her patients while encouraging them through the difficulty an injury can bring.
When not working, Julie’s free time is spent with her husband and 3 children, cheering the kids on in all their activities and sports events, and spending time with friends and extended family. An avid Cyclone fan as well, you’ll usually find her watching, reading, or talking about her alma mater! She loves to travel and explore, especially if it involves spending time outdoors hiking or at a beach.
