Dr. Schmitz and his PA Orewiler have given me a new lease on life! Prior to multi-level spinal fusion I was in daily pain – even standing for ten minutes or walking around the block caused pain. At age 66 I wanted to be way more active, travel and enjoy everyday activities with our growing family. The pre-op consultation gave me the confidence I needed to move forward with surgery. Within a few weeks from surgery I was able to walk a half mile at a time comfortably. Soon after I resumed driving and caring for grandkids. (With no lifting yet!) At eight weeks I was walking one mile stretches and resumed water aerobics and stationary bike exercise. It’s amazing, and I feel so good! Can’t say enough good things about this care team!

For the last 2 years my lower back pain became too much. It was uncomfortable to sit or stand. I would exhaust myself getting through the work day and then go right to bed. I did PT and 2 epidural injections. We tried all the things and Dr. Robey and Dr. Schmitz were patient with me getting to the point where I knew surgery was next. They both have been wonderful and the day of surgery, Dr. Schmitz came in to the room where I was waiting to be taken to the OR and visited with my parents and I and answered questions. I am 3-1/2 weeks in to recovery and am better and stronger each day. If I call with questions I always get a call back. It’s a big deal to trust someone with your spine and I am happy I did. Everyone, nurses included, have been wonderful.
