About Miranda
Miranda Ayers-Burkgren, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedic medicine with a strong focus on sports medicine and lifestyle restoration. Originally from Carlisle, Iowa, Miranda brings a deep commitment to community and service, shaped by her upbringing and a diverse professional background that includes honorable service in the United States Navy and time as a firefighter/EMT.
She earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Iowa State University and completed her physician assistant training at Des Moines University. With a passion for active living and a “fixer” mentality, Miranda was naturally drawn to orthopedics—particularly the field’s emphasis on restoring mobility and function rather than just managing symptoms. Her clinical interests lie at the intersection of surgery and lifestyle medicine, helping patients return to the activities they love, whether that’s running marathons, hiking, or simply keeping up with their grandchildren.
Miranda believes in a patient-centered approach to care, where the goal is not only to treat the condition but to support a full return to an active, healthy lifestyle. She sees orthopedic care as a powerful form of preventative medicine and strives to offer each patient a personalized plan that promotes long-term wellness.
Outside of the clinic, Miranda enjoys traveling with her husband and their two young sons, sharing her love of exploration and new experiences with her family.
