The Iowa Ortho in Johnston, and the Iowa Ortho Grimes Surgical location were top notch. The timeliness and professionalism exhibited by all team members from checking in, to the anesthesiologist, each person was knowledgeable, patient and enjoyable to work with. This has been consistent during the many visits leading up to and following surgery. Dr. Hale’s work was flawless, allowing me to get back to normal in no time, giving very clear instructions on restrictions along the way. He is a very gifted surgeon, who has not only treated my ankle in the past, but got me up and moving with my latest “accident.” During my follow-up visits, I saw his PA, Paige Goff. Paige is a talented, knowledgeable and personable provider, who cares about her patients by ordering appropriate tests, talking about the injury in terms I can understand and combined the aforementioned qualities to generate a treatment plan to insure the best possible outcome for healing. Dr. Gainer and his team at Iowa Ortho in Johnston are fantastic. I broke my wrist on a Friday morning and went to the ER. I finished there late afternoon and was referred to Dr. Gainer. They were able to get me in first thing Monday morning. I was in with him immediately and made to feel as comfortable as possible. After being told I needed surgery, Dr. Gainer went over all the benefits and risks of the procedure, allowing me to make a well informed decision. I was out of the office quickly, but never felt rushed and was provided with all the information I needed to feel optimistic. I was told to expect a call to schedule the surgery and that they would get me in as soon as possible. That afternoon, Nikki called me to tell me the operation could be done as early as Wednesday but I needed a pre-op physical first. On short notice, I knew that would be difficult to do with my PCP, but Nikki told me where I could go to ensure I was ready for Wednesday. She stayed in touch with me through a few phone calls and e-mails the rest of the day, making sure I had everything I needed. After completing the physical that same day, on Tuesday I got the call to schedule my surgery for first thing Wednesday morning. So, tomorrow I go in for the surgery. Throughout this process everyone, particularly Dr. Gainer and Nikki, was extremely attentive and helpful. It’s nice to feel those taking care of you are as concerned as you are and acting with such a sense sense of urgency. I feel lucky to have this type of support after a bad, albeit relatively minor, turn of events. Thank you to the entire Iowa Ortho team!

(2022) I met with Dr. Hale this week regarding my broken ankle from a fall last Saturday. I am impressed with how quickly I was able to have the initial consultation. Dr. Hale was very professional, knowledgable, and thoroughly answered all my questions. I have complete trust in him as he performs my surgery next week. Follow-up – Dr. Hale did an outstanding job repairing my ankle that was broken on both sides. I have had no issues with my ankle since the surgery: (Forward to 2024) I recently had a new issue arise regarding a bunion. When my regular medical doctor suggested seeing a podiatry specialist, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. I met with Dr. Hale for consultation fully expecting to face surgery. However, he suggested another plan of action to avoid the surgery, which I am now following. I am extremely grateful to have Dr. Hale on my medical care team!!

Dr. Aviles performed Rotator Cuff Surgery on my shoulder and Dr. Schmitz performed an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Spinal Fusion on my neck. I have also seen Dr. Johnson, Dr. Orewiler and PAC Austin Duerksen they are all wonderful! The staff are very sweet.

Iowa Ortho replaced my hip 4 years ago with great results and recently I sprained my knee and have had some pain with it and Dr. Larson has done a great job listening to my issues and trying to come up with the best course of action for the best results. I highly recommend Iowa Ortho to anyone.

Dr. Mahoney is the best knee surgeon. His diagnosis are spot on. He is very thorough in his explanations and has the best bedside manner which is paramount in the medical field. Iowa Ortho is the only Ortho provider that I will ever use. I have referred many friends to them and all are thankful they left their prior providers.

My husband was in the hospital with an infection in his foot that had gotten into the bone of one toe. The toe was removed by Dr. Trout from Iowa Ortho, then two more surgeries by Dr. Hale were required to get all the rest of the infection out of his foot. We are so pleased with the care and attention we received in the hospital and also with the office visits to follow up. We highly recommend Iowa Orthro!

I went in with really bad foot pain from the plantar fasciitis, and was not expecting anything more than a normal checkup. But I walked out of that office without any pain. Dr Hale was really great at explaining to me what was going on what needed to be done and gave me all my options. Made the choice to get an injection that day and I can’t believe I’ve been walking around with this much pain for so long when it was that easy. Thank you Dr.Hale for this in and out experience and providing me with the best care at the same time.

I was very pleased with all the interactions from everyone there. They are very prompt and helpful. The nurses were great and the Dr was thorough and straight forward about my problems. Seemed like they all genuinely care for their patients. I would recommend this place to anyone. If they can not help you there they will help you figure out where they believe the best place for you to get the help you need is at. I seen the front desk lady help a gentleman do just that. That shows integrity and heart. The world needs more people like the ones at Iowa Ortho! Thank you ladies for the help you gave me!

Dr. Vineyard is as good as they come! He performed surgery on my right knee and everything went extremely well!
