Chris’ Story – Hip Injury
Chris’ Story – Hip Injury

I have had progressive arthritis, a labral tear and dysplasia in my right hip. My hip injury was impeding my ability to walk and exercise – and negatively impacting my overall quality of life. It was a challenge to work due to the equipment I wear on my waist and the pain and discomfort afterwards.

I underwent surgery in February with Dr. Steven Aviles at Iowa Ortho and was walking shortly after. My recovery time was shorter than I had expected and I returned to work ahead of my scheduled leave. I started physical therapy and it helped tremendously and corrected many issues resulting from overcompensating on the other half of my body. My quality of life has increased tremendously since having this procedure done.

I appreciated Dr. Aviles’ care team and the facilities the most. The surgical experience was exceptional and the personnel associated with the whole experience were phenomenal. I was very nervous before the surgery, but the staff and surgical team were so accommodating and welcoming it allowed me to relax and have faith in the process.

I have recovered faster than expected and the inclusion of physical therapy has made a huge difference in my quality of life. I will now be able to participate in activities and work additional jobs that I was unable to perform due to the level of pain and discomfort associated with them.

I highly recommend Dr. Aviles and his care team to anyone seeking help for treating a hip injury.
