So impressed with Dr. Hale and the team that supports him. After cortisone injections were no longer effective, my discomfort required surgery. The Iowa Ortho in Johnston, and the Iowa Ortho Grimes Surgical location were top notch. The timeliness and professionalism exhibited by all team members from checking in, to the anesthesiologist, each person was knowledgeable, patient and enjoyable to work with. This has been consistent during the many visits leading up to and following surgery. Dr. Hale’s work was flawless, allowing me to get back to normal in no time, giving very clear instructions on restrictions along the way. 26OCT24 First Consult with Dr. B. Hale SUMMARY (Rate 5/5 *) Dr. Hale earned my trust and highest recommendation possible from the standpoint of one consultation. IN DETAIL 1. I went in for specific pain in both of my feet, I took a quick survey conducted by a staff member, then went for x-rays of my feet 2. Dr Hale was personable, warm, and started off our consult with open ended questions about my concerns. He gave me his full and patient attention, I gave him my prepared statements about what was wrong, for how long, and what I have done to help myself to this point for 15+ years of symptoms. 3. Dr. Hale performed his exam professionally and gently, handling my feet, ankles, and legs with care. 4. Dr. Hale reached a diagnosis quickly. He explained what the options we have to eliminate the pain. In my case the measures are lots of specific stretching, certain foot pads, and eventually steroid shots. Thank you Dr. Hale for the thorough care and for seeing me again in a month. I will give this stretching a fair test, as he explained stretching is backed by studies.

Dr. Gainer and his team at Iowa Ortho in Johnston are fantastic. I broke my wrist on a Friday morning and went to the ER. I finished there late afternoon and was referred to Dr. Gainer. They were able to get me in first thing Monday morning. I was in with him immediately and made to feel as comfortable as possible. After being told I needed surgery, Dr. Gainer went over all the benefits and risks of the procedure, allowing me to make a well informed decision. I was out of the office quickly, but never felt rushed and was provided with all the information I needed to feel optimistic. I was told to expect a call to schedule the surgery and that they would get me in as soon as possible. That afternoon, Nikki called me to tell me the operation could be done as early as Wednesday but I needed a pre-op physical first. On short notice, I knew that would be difficult to do with my PCP, but Nikki told me where I could go to ensure I was ready for Wednesday. She stayed in touch with me through a few phone calls and e-mails the rest of the day, making sure I had everything I needed. After completing the physical that same day, on Tuesday I got the call to schedule my surgery for first thing Wednesday morning. So, tomorrow I go in for the surgery. Throughout this process everyone, particularly Dr. Gainer and Nikki, was extremely attentive and helpful. It’s nice to feel those taking care of you are as concerned as you are and acting with such a sense sense of urgency. I feel lucky to have this type of support after a bad, albeit relatively minor, turn of events. Thank you to the entire Iowa Ortho team!

(2022) I met with Dr. Hale this week regarding my broken ankle from a fall last Saturday. I am impressed with how quickly I was able to have the initial consultation. Dr. Hale was very professional, knowledgable, and thoroughly answered all my questions. I have complete trust in him as he performs my surgery next week. Follow-up – Dr. Hale did an outstanding job repairing my ankle that was broken on both sides. I have had no issues with my ankle since the surgery: (Forward to 2024) I recently had a new issue arise regarding a bunion. When my regular medical doctor suggested seeing a podiatry specialist, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. I met with Dr. Hale for consultation fully expecting to face surgery. However, he suggested another plan of action to avoid the surgery, which I am now following. I am extremely grateful to have Dr. Hale on my medical care team!!

Dr. Ash quickly diagnosed my torn ACL and meniscus tear. I didn’t have to wait weeks for appointments or MRI. I had surgery less than a month of my initial consultation. I’ve been searching for a route cause of my pain after physical therapy getting trigger point injections epidurals and nerve ablations with no success. Was referred to Iowa Ortho for a 2nd opinion with my x-rays and mri on file she read them pointed out my direct issue and now working on a final resolution. She was kind yet direct and to the point. My husband was in the hospital with an infection in his foot that had gotten into the bone of one toe. The toe was removed by Dr. Trout from Iowa Ortho, then two more surgeries by Dr. Hale were required to get all the rest of the infection out of his foot. We are so pleased with the care and attention we received in the hospital and also with the office visits to follow up. We highly recommend Iowa Orthro!

I went in with really bad foot pain from the plantar fasciitis, and was not expecting anything more than a normal checkup. But I walked out of that office without any pain. Dr Hale was really great at explaining to me what was going on what needed to be done and gave me all my options. I was very pleased with all the interactions from everyone there. They are very prompt and helpful. The nurses were great and the Dr was thorough and straight forward about my problems.
