No knee replacement is fun, but if they give you enough “Happy Juice” they should bottle that stuff in “to go containers” and if you’re lucky enough to get Casey Howe to sew it up, he could have been a seamstress in another life, and his bedside matter follow up certainly is unique, you’ll least be able to smile. On a one to ten scale, Casey gets a 15 from the Bargainman Centerville. Knowledgeable, personal and somewhat entertaining. Not a bad combination for a guy who’s trying to make you not walk like a pregnant duck anymore. Thanks again, tell your pardner he did a good job also.

This was my first visit with Iowa Ortho and Dr. Galles. He seems extremely knowledgeable, straightforward and very personable. He was very honest that if I wanted surgery that I needed to eliminate nicotine in order to heal properly. I really appreciated his honesty! I will be working on reducing vaping from 6 mg to 0 mg nicotine in order to get my surgery. In the meantime, he recommended using graphite inserts. I have gone from severe pain 24/7 and limited mobility, for many years to no pain and being able to walk without assistance. In addition to being very skilled surgeons, both are personable, caring, compassionate, and terrific support systems for pre and post surgical care. I’ve had a surgery done on my thumb several years ago and it worked out great. Now I’m looking at an ankle replacement. Dr. Galles had looked over my history regarding the onset of my issues and the treatments I’d had trying to deal with it. After seeing a side-side X-ray comparison of both ankles he readily agreed that I was a candidate for the surgery. He explained the risks of all the choices I had and I feel comfortable going forward with it. The same day my arthritis doctor made the referral, Iowa Ortho contacted me and set up my first appointment. The wait time in was zero. I actually met before my appointed time with the nurse and with Dr. Galles a few minutes later. It only took a total of 45 minutes. I had a good experience before and expect the same this time around.

I saw Dr Beecher 5 weeks after a bad car accident. He was the first doc to take time to listen, assess, and do testing beyond the X-ray of my knee taken in the ED. From the time I was seen in the ED other providers told me I was “okay” and just needed to give my injuries time to heal because I didn’t have any fractures or internal bleeding. If you feel like something isn’t right with your body but get brushed off, trust your own instincts , and keep looking – there are good doctors out there, and Dr Beecher is one of them. I’ll be having surgery on my knee in a couple of weeks and will update, but I have confidence in Dr Beecher based on his bedside manner, knowledge, and ability to relay that knowledge in layman’s terms all the things that were damaged in my knee in the accident and what needs to be done during surgery.

I am a person of many illnesses and genetic disorders. I fall frequently and usually resulting in injury. Due to frequent visits to ERs and doctor offices, I’m not always treated what feels fairly. I’ve been dismissed routinely simply because my body is used to pain and has been for 16 years. I’ve been made to feel like I’m faking an injury for attention or medication. I’ve filed several complaints in regard to being dismissed or ignored and left untreated. So going in for an injury is a very stressful ordeal for me. I was treated with compassion and understanding by Dr. Hale at Iowa Ortho in Pleasant Hill for my recent fall and injury. He did not dismiss me or my concerns. He looked at X-rays, discussed results. He is treating my injury and I have a follow up scheduled. Unless you are a person with disabilities like my own and are constantly made to feel like nobody cares about your conditions, it’s hard to understand how much it means when you’re treated like a real person with a real injury and receive treatment from a doctor who truly cares. Thank you Dr. Hale for having that compassion, honesty, and following the oath you took to help people. It means the world to me more than you can imagine.

The check in process was quick and efficient. Exam room gathering of information and X-rays was also quick, efficient and professional. It was my first time going to Iowa ortho my a wrist/thumb problem, when arriving it was very welcoming from the start, the wait time wasn’t long at all. I ended up needed a shot in my wrist ouch right well John was the best he talked me though it sat beside me and actually cared that I was hurting from the injection he kept saying sorry for the pain before he left the room he made sure I was okay pain wise and just in general I would highly recommend this place.

Brought my 9 yr old in with an issue in the leg that was difficult to diagnose. While diagnoses is still in progress I am very pleased with the initial appointment. Dr. Farber provided advice based on how he would treat his own child. That came with clear explanations of possible causes and clear understandings of the unknowns at this time. Very refreshing to get that type of care. I look forward to getting to the bottom of the issue and feel good knowing I can expect true compassion for my child along the way. Definitely recommend. Austin is very personable and very knowledgeable he took enough time to get a good handle on the issue that I was seeing the doctor for and gave me encouragement that there is a resolution to the pain I was having in my lower back. My daughter, Cecelia, broke the top 4 bones in her foot. Betty called me while we were still in the emergency room to set up her appointment. They got her in their office that day, and Dr. Hale explained everything to us. His assistant, Stephanie, called us early the next day to set up her surgery date and time. This office including Dr. Hale, Betty and Stephanie were so on top of everything. We had 0 wait times, I had 0 questions and I would recommend Dr. Hale and his staff any day of the week. It’s definitely no fun to have your child break their foot, but they definitely made this process so easy.

I have had to visit Iowa Ortho for about 6+ years now .I usually go to the downtown on laural str,But I got to visit Ortho in pleasant hill Iowa this past time….it didn’t take no time at all to get into a room, and the doc was very kind and looking out for my heath….we had to put off my injection’s cuz of some health problems in having but instead of just giving me the injections he very kinding told me to wait…he could have just done the shots and let me go. But cuz of this consecrate doc I’m still healthy and looking forward to visiting that clinic soon

For 19 years I have had back issues. When I would throw my back out, I would just go to a walk in clinic and get the “norm” (Toradol & steroid) shots and be sent on my way. I figured with pains running down my leg it was about time to go see a specialist. I called and set up and appointment with Dr. Rosenthal. I was soooooo afraid that he would treat me like every other doctor I had seen in the past. I am only 35 and at my age I am not supposed to have back issues. Boy was I WRONG! Everyone at the office was so friendly and so down to earth. Dr. Rosenthal ordered some x-rays and answered all of my questions. I didn’t feel like just a number when I spoke with him. He listened to my issues and recommended a plan to determine what is wrong. I wish I could give more stars! The staff is also super friendly! I would highly recommend this office to anyone!

For 15 years i got told by probably hundreds of doctors that i was lying to get drugs or overweight. Or both. My whole experience with knee replacement surgery has been excellent! Dr. Mahoney and P.A. Howe were very informative during their preop visit. Joint camp and all the staff at Mercy should be commended for their caring work. The surgery went like clockwork and the followup visits by P.A. Howe were very helpful. I felt like I was their only patient. The followup physical therapy at the Indianola Mercy P.T. Clinic has been both challenging and motivating, 2 things I need to keep improving. These young ladies are a tribute to their profession. I’ve enjoyed this so much, I think I’ll have my other knee done as well! Update 3 months later: I am pain free for the first time in so many years! P.A. Howe has been phenomenal! Now let’s get on to the other one!
