Scott M. Shumway, M.D. - Hand Surgeon

Scott M. Shumway, M.D.
Biography

Dr. Shumway has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in hand surgery.

"As a hand surgeon, I treat all disorders of, and injuries to, the bones and soft tissues between the fingertips and elbow.  The hand and arm are the most vital structures that we have for interacting with our environment.  Without use of our hands, it would be almost impossible, or very difficult, to perform many daily activities that we take for granted.  Unfortunately, many disorders and injuries are often ignored or self-treated.  Untreated, these problems may lead to the development of chronic pain, weakness, or loss of use of the hand.  As your physician, it is my goal to provide you with a thorough upper extremity exam, an accurate diagnosis, and a program of care that will allow for a timely recovery, and maximum use of your injured hand or arm."

Dr. Shumway was born in Los Angeles, California but now lives in Des Moines, Iowa with his wife and three sons.
